Throughout my academic pursuit, my sole passion was to understand the implementations of brain computations, with some essence from the philosophy of mind and neuropsychology. My academic background reinforced my knowledge of computational methods, and my Ph.D. helped me develop my bioscience perspective. For my Ph.D. Thesis, done under the supervision of Dr. Hossein Esteky and Dr. Majid Nili at the Institute of Fundamental Sciences (IPM), I worked on the problem of category representation in different layers of abstraction by analyzing neuronal data recorded from non-human primates.
Since 2014, I have been appointed as the lab head at IPM. By 2018, I joined the Artificial Intelligence group of the University of Tehran as a faculty member. In both facilities, I place my focus on the interaction of the brain and data science to reveal the neural mechanisms of perception. Selecting the primate visual system as a model of interest, I collaborate with the Royan Institute primate center, where I investigate how neurodegenerative disorders alter cognitive capabilities by employing a set of genetic toolkits.
